Founder Masao Yamai used his expertise gained from his childhood passion for mountaineering and mountain skiing, as well as his knowledge of product development from his previous job, along with the unique metal processing technology of the Tsubame Sanjo area, to come up with the idea of creating portable and durable mountaineering equipment.
In 1999, Belmont Co., Ltd. was established in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, and the brand Belmont was launched.

From the outset, we developed local specialty fishing tackle products (scissors, pliers, rakes, rod holders, etc.) and distributed them nationwide. Three years later, in 2002, we began developing and designing long-awaited outdoor products (titanium pots, snow bowls, crampons, snowshoes, etc.) and began selling them. Since then, we have been incorporating customer feedback and releasing a variety of fishing tackle and outdoor products. To this day, approximately 90% of our outdoor products are manufactured in the Tsubame Sanjo area using state-of-the-art processing technology, ensuring they are "Made in Japan."

Since its founding, Belmont has been delivering lightweight, wear-resistant, and highly storable outdoor products, products with original concepts not found in other companies, and, more importantly, products that are easy to use and have a long lifespan.
