Klymit founder Nate Alder, an outdoor enthusiast, discovered the benefits of argon while diving and began applying it to outdoor sports gear, such as ski wear and outdoor apparel. He then assembled a research team of students, ultimately creating an argon-filled vest. This invention won numerous awards, and in April 2007, he founded Klymit, which has since become a manufacturer and distributor of innovative products.

When lying flat or on your side on a sleeping mat, the pressure points on the contact surface are concentrated on the head, shoulders, waist and feet. Therefore, KLYMIT takes pressure points into ergonomic considerations when designing sleeping mats.
